The Romanesque building was erected between the 12th and 13th centuries over older foundations which are visible inside. On the day of St. Martin's Feast,11 November, the area around the church fills up with stalls, food outlets and also a cattle market, the last trace of a rural way of life which has almost entirely disappeared.
