The primitive pre-Romanesque or Romanesque church was transformed into the present building during the 16th century. The subjects of the internal frescoes, painted in the year 1690 by Francesco Antonio Giorgioli, have a historical or mythological character: the baptism of Constantine, the Christian victory over paganism, Constantine offering the dominion of Rome to the Pope, St. George and the Blessed Manfredo Settala.
