The church was built during the years 1723-38, according to the plans of the architect, Giovan Pietro Magni. The interior contains numerous works of art: beautiful 18th century stucco works by Francesco Catenazzi and Giovan Battista Bagutti, in the vault there are four frescoes from 1744 with the richness of colour and ease of the style of Giovanni Battista Bagutti; altar-pieces, an antique 17th century organ. Excellent restorations (1994) have brought the church back to its original splendour.
