This village is located in the fertile area called Campagnadorna.
It was first mentioned in the 1300s, but was certainly inhabited before the year 1000.
At the beginning of the 16th century, local workers emigrated to Italy to work as masons.
The 18th and 19th centuries handed down the names of several stucco workers from Genestrerio: the Boffis and a Coldirari (Calderari), who probably worked on the construction of the cathedral at Fulda.
Interesting buildings:
Parish Church of St. Antonio Abate (17th c. on the foundations of a 15th or 16th c. chapel, enlarged during the 19th c. and recently renovated by the architect, Mario Botta).
